| | What's the Deal with the Canadians?
Canada, it’s what’s for dinner (bum bum bum). The other night I was watching television and I stumbled upon a documentary that I now consider one of my favorites. It is called, “Grizzly Man.” This documentary was about a man who decided he wanted to be a grizzly bear and he spent his summers living in Alaska among the giant predators. Then one day (after 13 years of living with the bears in the wilderness) one of the bears decided he had had enough of this, and mauled the grizzly man to death (wah wah wah wah). Then they began this interview process with people who knew the grizzly man. Responses ranged from “He never liked the bear that killed him. That bear was always rude to him.” to “That was stupid. He got what he deserved.” Now, I’m not advocating living with bears in the wilderness, but seriously, a guy just got mauled by a bear and all you can say is, “he got what he deserved.” That’s a little harsh. If the guy was trying to strap a saddle on a bear and ride it around like a horse, then I think you have a case. But the guy was just hanging out with the bears. When did that become so wrong? No really, I want to know, when did it become so wrong? Last I checked, we were covered by this little thing called the first amendment! Maybe you’ve heard of it he-got-what-he-deserved guy. It includes this thing called the pursuit of happiness, ringing any bells? And that’s what this guy was doing, pursuing happiness by chasing 2000 pound bears with 12 inch razor sharp claws around open space with no weapons or help around. Good times. (actually, I think this is all accurate today)
